Our Rapeseed Oil Farming Story

At Fussels Fine Foods, we’re proud to produce award-winning cold pressed rapeseed oil right here in the Somerset. Over the last two decades, rapeseed oil has become one of the UK’s favourite cooking oils, loved for its health benefits and versatility — and our customers tell us we make the very best. The Fussell family has been farming in Somerset for generations, and in 2005 we launched Fussels Fine Food to share our rapeseed oil as a homegrown alternative to imported olive oils. Today, our golden oil is enjoyed nationwide — available in our Somerset farm shop, at retailers across the UK, and delivered direct to your door through our online store.

What makes our oil special is that we do everything ourselves. From sowing and growing the rapeseed, to cold pressing and bottling, Andy and Tim Fussell oversee the whole process on the farm. Because we store the seed — not the oil — every bottle of Fussels cold pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil is wonderfully fresh, truly “from plant to plate.”

Our rapeseed oil has a delightfully buttery, nutty flavour and a nutritional profile that outshines many other oils. It contains 10x more Omega-3 than olive oil, a healthy balance of Omegas 3 and 6, half the saturated fat of olive oil, and it’s naturally rich in vitamin E. With a higher cooking temperature than olive oil, it’s ideal for roasting, frying, baking, dressing, marinating and drizzling — making it one of the most versatile cooking oils you can use.
